The book of interest is ‘Economic Asas’ form 4 published by ZETI Enterprise, 2002. Based on my personal evaluation, the content meets the local and national standards. First of all, it begins with introduction to Economics which comprise the definition, problem arise and information about the economic system and problem solving in basic economics. All these subtopics are relevant for those who have little knowledge about it. It also covers chapter concerning Income, household as consumers, firms as produces and not forgetting the concept of marketing and marketing itself. The content is also accurate and quite up to date. Each chapter it also enclose economics bulletin as additional knowledge for current issue. Besides, it also can be supported by other textbooks used by other students since the content is already revised and supported by the Ministry of Education. In terms of the language used, it is appropriate for the intended age group which is between 16-17 years old. Since the language used is Bahasa Malaysia, there should not be any problem for the students to understand the content clearly. The reading level is also appropriate for the targeted group age.
At the end of each chapter have a short summary of the topic, Concept map, review questions in the form of objective and subjective are given for further reinforcement. Self evaluation section to upgrade critical and creative thinking is also given.
Some of the lessons involved other subject areas such as math’s, accounting and history which are relevant to economics. Short activities relevant to the specified topic are also included in each chapter. The activities are all relevant for application whose personal economics are of concerned.
Since the textbook is to be used by pupils in all secondary school, it is written based on the revised integrated curriculum. The textbook packages have also fulfilled and complied with the requirement of the syllabuses and curriculum specification produced by the Ministry of Education t ensure learners acquire the necessary knowledge and skills needed. Therefore this textbook can be considered useful for years.

The economic text book does not provide a separate teacher’s edition or resource package. The reason this book is being written, is to achieve the objective of economic curriculum, therefore student gain a good knowledge and also to apply moral value. The content of this book was written based on economic subject and the systematic arrangement on the chapter make it easier for the students to understand. The objective of the introduction is to summarize. Each topic was explain in detail and also examples were given, chart, picture and important notes. For instance:each chapter provide economic bulletin, website for the student to refer through internet. There is activity for the student to test their mind and think creatively, such as puzzle. Each chapter provides a summary so they are able to revise it quickly and effectively. Lastly, exercise will be given in the end of each chapter so they can revise back what they understand previously and also to test their mind whether they are fully understand or not, eventually the answers are not provided and it will be hard for the student to check whether their answer are grammatically correct or not.

I’ve had made an evaluation on Malay text book, it was secondary four economic subject. Through my research on this text book, I discovered that the book was very good and very useful for the secondary four students. It provides a useful table of content on the first page, glossary, and index on the last page of the text book. Nevertheless, the table of contents showed a systematic arrangement chapter by chapter and development of this economic subject. It contained a uniform in appearance and content layout throughout the book as well as within each chapter. The references such as bibliographies and other resources are very important in any books, because it is very helpful and useful for the readers to refer. Every each chapter provide a simple introductions and summaries that was clear and comprehensive, therefore it makes the student easy to understand. In addition, page number is also very important in text book, it easier for the student to know that the pages arrangements are in sequences, hence to avoid confusing.

The size and weight of the textbook is appropriate, not too heavy and not too bulky. It should not be a burden for students of this age to carry around the school. The font is normally used in most textbook that is Times New Roman and the font size is moderate.
The cover is made from flexible but tough cardboard of considerable thickness. The pages are made of good quality paper and the binding is strong, not easily torn, by looking at all these qualities, it can be considered as durable.
Unfortunately, judging its internal appearance, it is not that appealing. It is lack of coloured and interesting pictures, although the page layout is uncluttered and balanced.
There should be more coloured pages interesting graphics and pictures related to each sub topics. The content should be presented more in the form of flow chart. Since, students nowadays do not like to read but instead prefer to have all the information nicely for them in a simple easy to absorb fast layed-out.
